advice on iva or banckrupcy?

March 23rd, 2008 by pammie

My husband and I have just started an IVA and are awaiting for our proposal to be sent. We have waited a long time and things are hotting up and staving of creditors is getting difficult. Originally our IVA proposal was based on our joint salary. One salary was to pay the morgage i.e. £1100 per month. My salary was to pay the creditors and the rest to live off. The problem is  I work as a teacher in a very difficult school and due to stress at home and school I have handed in my notice. I will be leaving on the 24th May 2008. I will be doing supply teaching in the meantime to bring in some money. Will we have to go bancrupt or can we still have an IVA on a supply teachers salary? How will we keep our creditors happy as we have been paying token amounts but they will only accept this for a short time and interest rates keep ocrrring.
